Three accountants rent a hotel room for the night. When they get to the hotel they pay the $30 fee, then go up to their room. Soon the bellhop brings up their bags and gives them back $5 because the hotel was having a special discount that weekend. So the three accountants decide to each keep one of the $5 dollars and to give the bellhop a $2 tip. However, when they sat down to tally up their expenses for the weekend the could not explain the following details:
Each one of them had originally paid $10 (towards the initial $30), then each got back $1 which meant that they each paid $9. Then they gave the bellhop a $2 tip. HOWEVER, 3 x $9 + $2 = $29
The accountants couldn't figure out what happened to the other dollar. After all, the three paid out $30 but could only account for $29.

Can you determine what happened?Where is the missing dollar?

cant believe i didnt figure it out sooner. this is so easy.

the people may have paid 30$ at first but actually they only spent 27$.
9*3=27
25+2=27

u were trying to trick us by equalising the initial expense with the actual one after the discount.

Here's one from my side:

Matthew leaves home in the morning to go to school. At the moment he leaves the house he looks at the clock in the mirror. The clock has no number indication and for this reason the boy makes a mistake in interpreting the time (mirror-image). Just assuming the clock must be out of order, Matthew cycles to school, where he arrives after twenty minutes. At that moment the clock at school shows a time that is two and a half hours later than the time that Matthew saw on the clock at home.

At what time did he reach school?

p.s. this is a simple question to test your logic and perception. higher knowledge of mathematics will not help you.

Ok then, tell me why my answer is wrong. i might have written 11:55 instead of 10:55 but the answer is still 1:25.

ok here's the answer:

The difference between the real time and the time of the mirror image is two hours and ten minutes (two and a half hours, minus the twenty minutes of cycling). Therefore, the original time on the clock at home that morning could only have been five minutes past seven: 7:05 and 4:55

The difference between these clocks is exactly 2 hours and ten minutes (note that also five minutes past one can be mirrored in a similar way, but this is not in the morning!).

Conclusion: The boy reaches school at five minutes past seven plus twenty minutes of cycling, which is twenty-five minutes past seven!.
