The preparations for the US election for the House of Representatives are underway. All the 435 seats in the House of Representatives are being contested. The current composition of the House stands at 232 Democrats, 198 Republicans, and 5 vacancies.
The key races involved in the election are Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana and Texas among many others.
Among the important races contesting elections is Texas 22nd Congressional District. The constituency, which was primarily represented by the Republican, House Majority Tom DeLay, is now held by the Democrat, Nick Lampson. The Democrat Lampson is running for a re-election and faces stiff competition from his Republican counterparts. The constituency has a strong Republican support which was responsible for voting the current President, George W. Bush to win over John Kerry by a margin of 2 to 1. The physical fitness of Nick Lampson to contest the coming election is also raising question. Lampson is a heart patient and has undergone recent quadruple heart bypass surgery. Texas 22nd has been under the leadership of House Majority Tom DeLay for nearly 20 years before the seat was occupied by the Democrat Lampson in 2006. The 22nd had long been considered a solidly Republican district, with a Cook Partisan Voting Index of R+15. A Democratic presidential candidate had not carried the district since Lyndon B. Johnson defeated Barry Goldwater in the 1964 election.
The district takes in several wealthy and conservative suburbs south of Houston, including Sugar Land, Pasadena, Pearland, and the Clear Lake area of Houston. Texas 22nd Congressional District also includes the NASA Johnson Space Center and Ellington Field. Along with Sekula-Gibbs, several other Republicans are running for the seat including former Sugar Land mayor Dean Hrbacek , former Pasadena mayor John Manlove, former John Cornyn Chief of Staff Pete Olson, Family District Judge Jim Squier, State Representative Bob Talton, and NASA contractor Ryan Rowley.

Definitely what happens in US poltics is a matter of concern to all of the world. Even a small and strategically unimportant (to US) country like Nepal has knot its forhead regarding the outcomes of the Us election.
