The voice for Free Tibet is been going on for a long time now. I heard about 100's are killed in Lhasa clash. I don't know if China will free Tibet or should it but what I know is they shouldn't impose thier politics in neplese tourism. Its their fight and they should keep it between them.

China seems to be in great dillema...it hadn't expected such a twist of events just before olympics i guess....One side there is tibet and on the other there's its image of a secure n stable country for the olympics....I don't think China will ever free tibet coz as we have seen China still hasn't let Taiwan be recognized in the world ...China's one china policy has been a strict principle being followed by it.....Tibet is near to a lost cause for fighting but who knows what might happen...

China is a country which has always gained publicity be it for its global economy as well as its hard lined policy. Tibet has always been the center of conflict, diplomacy and a great threat for the Chinese government and its policies. Independent Tibet, was voiced by the Dalai Lama who later fled to India inorder tyo survive the Chinese governments action but made sure he left enough supporters to back the very cause.

As UN is very near to where i work i was shocked to see the Nepalese police battoling the innocent protesters what i simply could'nt understand is why that also near UN ewas the voices of people being supressed. this indded was ironic as UN stands as a symbol of unity and justice but what i witnessed was the vice versa...... Today when china seems to be in total confusion whether to continue its communist reingn i feel china today needs to revamp its policies in Tibet and a suggestion suppressing peoples voices is not the only way out...what is necessary is mediation and inorder to do that they need to give away their hardlined policies.....

For if the people want a free independent Tibet.....then that is what china should give!!!!

As the world has seen fewer countries as hard lined as China, I find it hard to think of a free tibet...but these protests have really baffled China for sure...Peaceful negotiations should replace voilance...

Pro-Tibet US climber deported

The government today deported American climber William Brant Holland who violated strict regulations banning pro-Tibet protests on Mount Everest and imposed a two-year ban, prohibiting him from climbing any mountain in Nepal.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation Prem Kumar Rai said the ministry decided to ban Holland from climbing the mountains for two years.
Holland was caught with a banner painted with ‘free Tibet’ slogan in his bag at the Everest base camp on April 21. The ministry had interrogated him when he arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday. Rai said Holland returned to the US this afternoon. He refused to divulge the details about the development.
However, AFP quoted Rai as saying that the tourism police had escorted Holland to the airport for deportation.
Meanwhile, the government has sought clarification from the Himalayan Guides Treks and Expeditions, which acquired the permission for Holland to climb.
Holland is the first climber stopped by Nepali security officials stationed at the Everest base camp in a bid to crack down any anti-China protest during the planned Olympic torch relay to the summit.
The government has stationed nearly 25 security men at the base camp to prevent any possible obstruction to the Olympic expedition.

ya of course living under others control is not kool. Freedom is one of the basic necessities of a human life since human civilization has progressed so much. But I find it difficult to envision a situation where China has freed tibet.

Yeah I don't think China will free tibet .
WEllfor one thing ! it still hasn't recognized Taiwan yet like critics said but seriously oprressing the denmonstration with force really is not done. I actually witnessed a few weeks ago tibetan protestors being dragged from infront of the chinese embassy from where they'd been having a sit-out protest.

N we've just had a major women demonstration of tibetans in thecapital.

Peaceful negotioation should repalce the violence

n Yeah people who want a free tibet have been banking on a lot of media attention because of this olympic hype which has really embarrasedt he chinese govt but china is one hardlined country. It's not goin to give in to their demands so easily.

no, china is never going to free tibet. Tibet has already been under china for centuries now and frankly i dont think it can survive well as a independent nation. JUst think about it, wat resources does it have?? However they might come to some type of understanding. After all that' wat tibet really wants. the current chinese govt is just too arrogant to give it. The issue might be settled soon but i dont see it happening under this govt.

But frankly i do hope that the tibet conflict continues. i know it sounds terrible and i am really sorry for all the tibetian friends. but looking at nepal's interest , its for our good. why do you think china doesnt treat us as badly as our other neighbour India. Just look at china's relation with other neighbouring countries and then look at their relationship with us. As long as nepal continues to supress the tibetian protest here, it simply wont touch us. it's a kind of mutual unspoken truce between nepal n china.

China invests millions of dollars for the development of Tibet yearly. Its a legimative logic of China not to free TIBET. Tibet cannot exist on its own if China stops its support to Tibet.

However China sud allow Dalai Lama to enter inside Tibet. He sud be provided the opportunity to stay freely in Tibet and China sud stop violating the human rights of the people of Tibet.

But Tibetans sud stop protesting against China from Nepal. And Nepalese government sud not allow these kind of activities from Nepal.

well, that's what i would call a pragmatic approach. China has always been supportive to us which looks unnatural when we look at its relationships with its neighbours. We should try our best not to offend China. If Nepal supports China is these times of need, China will surely be more supportive to us.

I would not ever and ever argue on freeing tibet from China. However I would wish for betterment of the relation between China and tibet as well as with Taiwan. But it would not be entertaining enough to have America caught up in any kind of threats in China.

All right. I have to speak on this, I couldn't comform myself remaining numb.

Free Tibet from WHAT?
Free Tibet into WHAT?

What will happen if Tibet is "freed" or say "separated" from China? Will it see the same progress. Will the UN-productive lands of Tibet help Tibetians survive? Will the little Tourism help sustain their needs?

I do not like the way Tibet is protesting. Tibet MUST protest from freedom. But Separation is out of the goddamned line. The whole of China must protest similarly for freedom, otherwise such protests are of no use. Let the goddamned Olympics end, and see how Chinese bureaucracy stops these protests.

Tibet used to be ruled by the feudal Dalai Lama and the subjects to his holiness used to consider him God. That God made slaves build his Potala Palace in such adverse conditions.

You are at your best blaze broda!! So apt argument! What will freed Tibet survive on?? That's the major question...And I am sure Chinese Bureaucracy is eagerly waiting for the Olympics to finish...I wonder what they will do after that...

I don't know China might be thinking in making a good talks with Dalai Lama so called incarnated holy god. After olympics I think China is giving Tibet more power than before and is asking Dalai Lama once again to settle in Tibet once and for all by removing all the tags of treason against lama.
It is what fits at the right moment.

Due to the recent free tibet protest amidst the ?Olympic Troch rally I think China is burning with anger and mad because of its inability to crush the protest due to the olympics. History shows China doesn't like being poked and when the poking is done when it is vulnerable I cannot imagine anything except a ruthless China. And recently Chinese Ambassador gave a harsh comment to Nepal for not crushing the demonstrastions effectively...All these shows China is not in a good enough mood to give more power to tibet after the olympics...I think China will act angrily after the olymnpics Exclamation

I don't think so.
If that had been the case then it wouldnot have a talk with taiwan as well. But both parties did meet with each other and had a good agreement.
And even after olympics the structures that china has built need to have a good use in future. So, even if it wants to become ruthless it can't.
