Fiction and Narrative Storytelling Workshop
Dec 12, 2009 12:30-4pm and Dec 13, 2009 12:30-4pm
Venue: Today’s Youth Asia office at Babarmahal Revisited
Facilitator: Sushma Joshi

V.E.N.T! Magazine has teamed up with author, journalist and filmmaker Sushma Joshi to present a 2-day writing workshop.

The first session (on Saturday) will focus on Fiction Writing. This session will provide participants with an opportunity to sharpen their writing skills through sessions that focus on different aspects of story writing. Participants are encouraged to come to the workshop with samples of their writing along with questions and queries so that you can take advantage of the presence of an established writer thrilled to offer you advice. Come prepared to have loads of fun!

The second session (on Sunday) will focus on Narrative Storytelling and will offer participants with the opportunity to take a deeper look at the genre of non-fiction writing. In this interactive workshop, participants will collectively discuss and analyze articles, will emerge with knowledge on the basic principles of this genre and will also be required to experiment with a bit of on the spot writing. We look forward to sharing and commenting on each other’s work.

Selected works will be featured on V.E.N.T! Magazine.

Participants who have already done some writing before hand and are willing to share their writing during the workshop are encouraged to apply. Professional experience in fiction or narrative storytelling is not required; however, we expect the participants to have a strong interest in writing and journalism. Applicants are welcome to attend one or both of the workshops. Please make sure that you indicate which workshop(s) you are interested in attending on the application form (link below).

Twelve participants of 18-24 years old will be selected based on their personal statement and writing sample(s). Submission deadline is December 9, 2009. This is a free workshop.
