I recently watched "Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights" (1992)...a great movie based on a great book.....Though the direction is good, I think the actors couldn't convey the exact emotions of the characters of the novel...I mean the fierceness of emotions of the characters of the novel couldn't be well conveyed by the actors in the movie. I think it needs a very talented actor to portray the character of Heathcliff....

My Rating of the movie: 6.5/10

Jodha Akbar - It was an okay flick. Could have been better with a little bit less of melodrama. Hritik was awesome once again.

10000 B.C. - A lot expected from "The Independence Day" director but alas...its no way near. But you can sit through the movie.

Recently watched "Sometimes in April" , a historical drama about the Rwandan Genocide of 1994. It is more gruesome and more realistic and has more coverage than Hotel Rwanda. I found the movie very disturbing. God, how can people be so inhumane.....Though this movie has aroused much controversy , it's a must watch movie for anyone who wants to have a broad picture of the Rwandan Genocide or for anyone who wants to know how simply humans get evil and inhumane...

My Rating for the movie: 9 out of 10.

"Rescue Dawn",The film is based on the true story of German-born Dieter Dengler, who dreamed of being a pilot and eventually made his way to the United States, where he joined the Navy during the Vietnam War era. He became a pilot and was shot down over Laos and captured. Eventually he organized an escape with a small band of captives.

Tibet: Cry of the snow lion

A 102 min documentary about the history of tibet, its occupation by China and the resistance movements...

My review: somewhat biased account of tibet..i found the documentary unfairly anti-china. Tibet's history is well expressed though. I was mad with rage when the documentary said Buddha was born in India and Nepal wasn't even mentioned when they were talking about countried surrounding Tibet.

But the story of opression is well told.

i had also watched the cry of a snow lion. the snow lion is depicted in the national flag of tibet but tibet being deprived of its independence, tibetan flag is replaced by the chinese flag and so the snow lion cries and the tibet cries along with it.so, the title has proved true to its meaning.

documentary basically focuses on the Chinese domination on the culure, values, beliefs and the religion of tibet. the attacks on th monasteries and the peace loving monks is really heart breaking. moreover it has also been able to show how the drawbacks of modernisation theory that china imposed upon tibet pushed it into massive poverty and starvation.

this documentary shows that the tibetans are being the second class citizen in their own land, their mother tongue has no value and their job opportunities have been reduced along with the high rate of migration of chinese into tibet.

moreover, this documentary has refleced the power game. as the super power countries favour china, tibet's voice has been unheard even by UN. massive human right violation by china on tibet has become a silent story and tibet has been voiceless.

Great analysis! The modernisation theory approach seems interesting.

recently i watched a movie directed by Brian De Palma named REDACTED..

It is a drama based movie on the Mahmudiyah killings, the gang-rape, murder, and burning of Abeer Qasim Hamza al-Janabi, a 14-year-old Iraqi girl in March 2006 by U.S. soldiers who also killed her parents and her younger sister.

Teeth
its a movie about a girl who has teeth in her vagina. Apparently its not a new concept. Just search dentata (latin for teeth) in wikipedia. The movie is really funny with a dark side. has its share of gore as well. The movie also has a underlying theme of female impowerment. I recommend it to anyone who likes offbeat movies
8/10
