maoist has emerged as the biggest political party in constituent assembly of Nepal. They are soon going to form a new government under their leadership. nepalese people are observing each an every move of maoist, a former rebel group very closly and so as international community.

they have alot of revolutionary political agendas but i believe it is really hard for them to implement whatever they have proposed .. one of them include the so called economic revolution which has recently got highlighted by maoist. many economist and political analyst says its nothing but maoist propoganda to give people false hope.

nepal is one of the most poorest country in the world which has really weak and vulnerable economy. maoist insurgency and bad policy of government are responsible for it. this year nepal economy grew at the rate of 5.6% almost 2 fold increase than last year. government data shows that political stability, good policy and increase in agriculture productivity is the result of this growth.

maoist have proposed 20% economic growth of nepal's economy in next 10 years.agendas also include the production of 10,000Mwatt electricity, free education upto 12 class, increase per capital income by almost 900%. these agendas seems to be impossible to implement under this economy.

nepal needs RS100 billion for implementing free education upto 12 every year, 10 hundred thousand crore rs to produce 10,000 Mwatt elceticity in 10 years, $10 billon annual budget to increase per capita income by 900% and extra $ 2 billion for 20% economic growth for next 10 years regularly..

here seems the maoist agenda is nothing but a hollow cry. its not possible in nepal.

nepal must focus on small and medium sized project. and should proceed in improving the quality of life without much conventional economic growth by using local resources..

more than 35% OF NEPAL BUDGET comes from economic aid and loan from foreign countries and banks. inviting alot of economic investment increase the international dominance and interferance in policy making. nepal has already the more than $3.5 billion external debt, which is huge burden to economy.

maoist must learn to be practical and stop showing this hollow dreams to nepalese people. instead should bring policy in improving the quality of life without conventional economic growth.

Very nice post and issue....Maoists economic policy is highly exaggerated and it is indeed a hollow cry given the current happenings in the country....but still if the situation were to improve and a good market friendly policies were to come Nepal could obtain a double digit growth rate....After studying the case studies of countries like China, India, Malaysia and Thailand I strongly believe that if we want a prosperous Nepal , liberal economic policies should be adopted...the state should stop being a welfare state and keep its hands off from markets....I think we need a Foreign Direct Investment friendly approach and policies and the policies should be implemented strictly...Instead of spoon feeding the people the government should encourage investments and entrepreneurship...Maoists are proposing the opposite...the government is already providing the subsidized education till class 10 and we already know what the condition of govern provided education is and they are saying they will provide free education till class 12......By the way the term "FREE EDUCATION", "FREE HEALTH SERVICES" is itself a joke....Government provides free education but does it mean that the infrastructures, manpower and other resources needed for education come for free??? Of course not coz they cost money and who is going to pay the money...the government and where does the government gets the money from??? FROM PEOPLE as tax....so after all we are paying the money aren't we??? Then how dare the government say that they are going to provide Free education or free health services or anything.....why don't they say instead of providing free education we are going to make you enough economic opportunities so that you can pay for your education as per your wish....Why does government say it will provide sth for free?? because it helps them gather vote..ppl would be happy to vote for the party which says it will give them everything for free....but nothing is free in the world ...according to a survey the goverment spends an average of Rs. 624 for each student upto class 10 but the quality of education???????

It could have been possible if we - civilians- private sectors, get a chance.
But Government doing everything is just "over ambitious".
You can compare the financial achievement of Kantipur publication and Gorkhapatra. or Nepal Airline Corporation and Buddha Air.
